Jesus You Alone · An acoustic worship album by Tara Carter
Jesus You Alone
About the Album
Each song on Jesus You Alone has a special meaning to me and has impacted my walk with God in many ways. These are songs that God has used to stir a heart of worship within me (All I Have is Christ); songs that God has used to challenge and deepen my faith (The Jesus Way), and songs that continue to encourage me to trust God throughout many seasons of my life (Your Great Name). It has been our prayer throughout this musical journey that God would use these songs for our audiences in the same impactful way.

The Songs

Build a Boat
This song is about choosing faith and obedience even when you can't see the whole picture yet. We gave this one a light and cheerful tone through instrumentation and vocals, which helps to bring out the joy of trusting God and continuing to build.

All I Have is Christ
The lyrics to this song fit perfectly with the theme of the entire album, “Jesus You Alone.” The song turns the focus of the believer’s contentment away from worldly pleasure to the source of all joy: Jesus. We chose to keep the sound simple so the words of the song could remain the focus.

Jesus You Alone
Jesus You Alone is the title track for the project, and it really is the heart of the album. This song propelled many conversations about the style and tone of the album. It's a reminder to fix our eyes on Him and to say "Jesus, You alone are worthy."

The Jesus Way
I love the challenge in this song. Following jesus isn't always the easiest or most popular way, and sometimes it means choosing humility, forgiveness, surrender, and obedience when our natural instinct is to do the opposite. The stringed instruments were added by our music producer, Ben Hart, and we feel like they really complete the track.

Your Great Name
This song focuses on the power in the name of Jesus: power to save, power to heal, and power to overcome evil. There is so much power in the name of Jesus, and this song is a declaration of that truth. The verses and choruses build to the bridge declaring some of the names of Jesus, "Redeemer, Healer, Lord, Savior, Defender, and King."

Indescribable
We added a verse from the old hymn "Doxology (Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow)" because I wanted to incorporate some of the traditional hymns I grew up singing in church. The acoustic arrangement keeps it simple and intimate while pointing back to the greatness of our Creator.

In Jesus Name
We wanted this song to have a somber tone, giving it the feeling of praying for something earnestly and sincerely. We believe that we can pray, worship, and walk through hard times because of who Jesus is and what He has already done for us.
You Keep Hope Alive
This song reminds us of the hope we have as Christians. We stacked three vocal parts throughout this song to give it a fuller sound, adding layered vocals in some sections. This was Tara's favorite song to record during the project.

Sure Been Good
This song is just pure gratitude. The repetition of the lyrics feels like a testimony being spoken over and over again of how good God has been.

What Love is This
The beautiful sound and reverent words of this song reflect on the kind of love Jesus has for us. We wanted to keep this song simnple while adding subtle strings to enhance the beauty and to create a quiet, reflective atmosphere.
